FOUNDERS AND REGISTRATION:

AFGACF was founded on 17th February 2016 by Mr. Jeff Slanger and Ms. Kebeh Teta Zubah.

The Foundation is Incorporated under the Companies Code, 1963 (Act 179) of The Republic of Ghana And Having Complied With The Provision Of Sections 27 and 28 Of The Companies Code of 1963, was Entitled To Commence Business On The 17th Day Of February 2016. AFGACF currently operates within West Africa.

The Founders of AFGACF are two young ordinary people who have chosen to do extra-ordinary things. Jeff and his cousin Kebeh. ”Our passion to assist needy Girls and Children Is an  inborn desire to help the less privileged as well as our desires to change their world in positive ways, with no intention for rewards or financial gains.” We believe in the worth and dignity of all people and their ability to learn, unlearn and relearn. Jeff and I grew up in a country (Liberia), that experienced bloody civil wars for many years at different intervals. More than 250,000 people were killed in Liberia’s bloody civil wars and thousands more fled the fighting to neighboring countries. We grew up amidst lots of social crisis, economic instabilities and witnessed first hand social injustices. All these and many more contributed to our burning passion to serve humanity.

Our goal is to help Girls and Children obtain quality education. We are however proud of the lives we have been able to touch here in Ghana and are equally excited about the future of Africa.

OUR CORE VALUES:

Partnership: We believe in the power of people. We employ a people-centered approach to development and the challenge of overcoming poverty and inequalities in Education for Girls and Children. We support our partners by allowing them to drive their own development. We recognize that we all have a stake in effective development, and we seek to build on each other’s capabilities.

Respect and Integrity: We value diversity. We recognize and care about the rights and dignity of others. We strive to live up to our commitments, to be fair and transparent in our work, and to act consistently in applying our principles.

Accountability: We take responsibility for our actions and proactively demonstrate that we work with and on behalf of others. We perform consistently to standards and seek to achieve and inspire the next generation of future leaders.

Investing in Girls’ Education

AFGACF – believes, in order for communities to thrive, Children need to be protected, and men and women, Girls, Boys and Children must enjoy the same human rights and be given the same opportunities to participate in decisions that affect their lives irrespective of Sex, Gender, Race, Economic backgrounds etc. ‘’Not every Child has an equal talent or an equality ability or motivation, but they should have the equal right to develop their talent and ability and their motivation, to make something of themselves; If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich’’ John Kennedy
WHY GIRLS’ EDUCATION?
It is estimated that worldwide, 62 million Girls-half of whom are adolescent are not in school. And the disparity in gender in education remains quite real today worldwide, with 78 per cent of girls dropping out of school-compared to 48 per cent of boys. Despite dramatic improvements over the last decade, progress towards achieving education for all has stagnated. In total, 121 million children and adolescents are currently out of primary and lower secondary school worldwide – a number that has remained essentially constant since 2007. 78 million of these children live in Low Income generating Countries.
41% of all school-dropped-out children of primary school age have never attended school and will probably never start if current trends continue. 25 million children of primary school age are expected to never attend school. 15 million of these children are girls. School systems need to be strengthened with a special focus on reaching marginalized children.
